Why the Enneagram Numbers Hurry

One: I hurry because if I don't hurry I won't get there on time. And if I don't get there on time, people might give me the "look." I hurry so no one will find fault with me. Two: I hurry because people need me. I'm the only one who can calm them down, fix their heart aches, listen to them properly, advise them well, and help them understand what they ought to know. If I don't help them, they'll suffer needlessly. I hurry because I think everything hinges on me. Three: I hurry because I have so much to do to make this project excellent! Baptism Testimony

I didn't used to want to be baptized. I was too stubborn. I was determined to be the upright, genuine Christian who wasn't baptized—something of a superior class, I suppose. All that physical symbolism was for the archaic layman or the really emotional sort or the person who's afraid baptism is necessary for salvation. It's not for me. It's not for the steady, reliable believer who doesn't have a big conversion story. I was in preschool when I prayed the prayer. Welcome to the waiting room. The doctor is in and his operations are in process. You may stop hiding under the tables in the back, and as soon as you can pry your hands off the chair in front of you or from around your neighbor's neck, feel free to enter the pre-op room located over here to your right. Ah, I see you are hesitant. Perhaps you may be wondering what to expect from the doctor’s surgery and your stay here in the hospital. Please, take a moment to study the posters on the walls. They depict the proper function of the human body: the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, etc. A comprehensive book of all these diagrams may be found under the chair in front of you. You may notice a striking resemblance between these diagrams and the doctor, our Master Surgeon, and that's because they are one and the same.
